Are you looking for me?

You might know there are a dozen adult Carol Abrahamsons in Google’s search results. Plus an untold number of children with the same name.

At any rate, I’m the one who went to New Trier High, got a BA in English from Ohio Wesleyan and an MBA from New York University while I worked on Wall Street at Alliance Capital Management and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.

You might know me through my four corporate jobs: McGraw-Hill (NY), PCA International (NC), McKesson (CA) and Portland General Electric (OR). Or from the consulting, training, publishing and search firm in Palo Alto I started in 1983, Investor Relations Resources. Or its sister business, The Investor Relations Academy.

Perhaps our paths crossed during my decade living full-time in Sedona, where I started ExtraOrdinary Homes, which morphed into The Convenience Home. Or you may have known me from the dozen nonprofit and economic development projects I founded and led while I was in Arizona.

Since I came to Illinois, maybe we met while I was on staff at Northern Illinois University. Or helping its undergrad business students or its graduate students in 30 departments — or through the Illinois Innovation Association I founded to connect all the state’s business incubators. My recent venture, Executive Authors, helps executives, experts, entrepreneurs, business owners and professionals create a book to differentiate and build their business and brand. (And next year, I launch a sister company, Nonfiction Author Resources, to help aspiring nonfiction authors start an important and influential book.)

Or perhaps we met through either activity that has consistently put a smile on my face since 1990: my Light Touch corporate and personal gift and decor business or cooking for friends and colleagues since graduating from full-time chef’s school.
